She seemed lost in the moment, shocked and sick. He never tried to deceive her, but “these things just happen.” “Don't ever come back!” She screamed so loud, all was still. He slowly walked on out, better find a new place. Welcome to Lucky’s downtown, you enjoy your stay. Sometimes you wanna go where no one wants to know your name. Bottles up, spirits down, there’s no stiffer drink in town. (You’ll make some friends along the way, and lose them all by the next day.) Come for a show, just hang awhile, you’ll find a Surly lullaby. (Might get your picture on the wall, it’s all for one and one will fall.) Stumble through our front door to sin, check in for the night. They say, once you come to Lucky’s, life’s a faster ride, no one gets out alive. She’s out to find him, never called or showed his face. Stalking through the city streets, makeup smeared and blistered feet. She gets in a cab. “Take me where I can find, the perfect place to numb my mind.” (And find my back against the wall, with someone dark, handsome and tall.) She couldn’t know, the only dive was where the lover she couldn’t find. (Had someone’s back against the wall, forgetting her and moving on.) Stumble through our front door to sin, check in for the night. They say, once you come to Lucky’s, life’s a faster ride, no one gets out alive. God damn, I’ll never see the sunlight. Been bell to buzzer now for three fucking days. Well I’m counting sheep, under the bar stools tonight. Far passed a dollar short or a day late, just for your change. Come on down… What can I get ya? Happy hour’s gone. My bloody marys keep you grinning. My pours are longer, it’s no wonder you stay. I’ve heard it all, more than once most of the time. Another blurry conversation, of a broken man. Come on down… What can I get ya? Happy hour’s gone. Lose my mind by closing time. Let’s pack it up, that’s all tonight. Last call for alcohol. Just funnel out the flickering lights. It’s time! Lucky’s downtown signing off, goodnight… goodnight…

Daddy's Girl 03:03
I’ve done wrong and I’ve done right, never backed down from a fight. You’ll be sure to someday see. My flaws are blanketed in spite, inked in permanent delight. I can’t help the man I’d be. Daddy’s girl, just for once let’s sing something other than regrets. (God knows there’s always plenty.) I can’t take back all the things I did, just know I’ll love you always. Always and forever. Growing up your heart will break, cuts will bleed and knees will scrape. I just hope I’m there to see, The day you walk to graduate or make my same old dumb mistakes. Either way it’s you and me. Daddy’s girl, just for once let’s sing something other than regrets. (God knows there’s always plenty.) I can’t take back all the things I did, just know I’ll love you always. I’m here for worse or better.

Conversations, liquored down. The facts never seem to make ties stop binding. The situation is heating up, the worst are the things unsaid. In the end there is. Left there, wasted. Slurring the words that inspired me. Held back, helpless, fighting it all. The harder I try to hold on, the faster I’m slipping. My better senses fail me, look out below. The safety net has long been lost. A realization, The better things in life weren’t just set aside for the privileged. Condensation, beading down. A bottle of your former life tries to break you. Left there, wasted. Slurring the words that inspired me. Held back, helpless, fighting it all. The harder I try to hold on, the faster I’m slipping. My better senses fail me, look out below. The safety net has long been lost. My mind has failed by design, a broken ship sinking. They say it’s never over, but I can hear the pipes, the pipes are calling.

Goodbye, to my blessed bride. (So long to the years I dreamed about.) It’s been so long, the silence is almost deafening. (I can still hear your heart beat out.) Ten years, ten years since you were buried. (Ten years since I made that long drive home.) I’d trade it all, trade it all just for one day. And I can’t believe the things we’d say. Thought we had forever. Goodbye to my selfish pride. (Goodbye gonna drink my insides dry.) The holding on, has taken it’s toll so I’m through. (So long with gin soaked smiles.) Twenty years, soaked in pain, whiskey and water. (Twenty years makes a mad man drink himself sane.) And when I’m gone, they’ll name a drink after me. And I’m sorry things happened this way. They’ll never understand, it all ends here, the long goodnight. A shameful sleep without the morning light. What can I say, you always felt like home. My fire, snuffed out by the cold. And you there, all that’s left’s a stone. I can’t stand, you down there alone, baby I’m coming home. Covered in my sweat I’m shaking and losing sight. I’d rather be with you there, no pain or anger, lifeless face turned blue. Fistful of pills should make it all end tonight. Slip in the water slow, holding my breath until my fucking heart explodes. You always felt like home. My fire, snuffed out by the cold. And you there, all that’s left’s a stone. I can’t stand, you down there alone, baby I’m coming home.

Deep in those eyes, daddy issues hold the prize. Wrapped in a cold disguise. Been strung out, for three straight days. A falling out, a rat in an endless maze. On her own, lost along the way. Prayed for more, only to find empty candle lights can’t save me. Torn and frayed, a backdrop for a future stained. She cries and says “I can’t dance down here all alone.” If you look back, he’s beaming. Daddy’s girl had no such luck. He’s stumbling, and drinking, dreaming of a better life on his own. Been kicked aside, never meant to hurt and lie. But he’s straight in her sights. “ You’re not alone. I’ve felt that way. Just take me home, I can make it all alright.” On her own, lost along the way. His finger wrapped in gold, trembles now. She could care less, about him.

So this is the sound of us forgiving now. We’ve been breaking down for so long it’s hard to say, What’s here and now. Can we be saved somehow. Another down and out. So far off the tracks I’m not sure we’ll be found. Needing one more chance. Caught up in the darkness. I’ve been known to sink myself with the best of them. Fought our way through the darkness and we found our own way home. No chance were turning back, I know. The simple things will remind us, why we never let things go. So much for spinning out, I won’t. So scream and shout, get all those demons out. You’ve been dreaming about better days and promises. We swore aloud that we were lost but found. Couldn’t live without knowing someday maybe we could sing about. Needing one more chance. Caught up in the darkness. I’ve been known to sink myself with the best of them. Fought our way through the darkness and we found our own way home. No chance were turning back, I know. The simple things will remind us, why we never let things go. So much for spinning out, I won’t.

I could say, are they listening? And will they remember on their way home what we said? Can’t believe we drove all night for this. Could it be, kids today are looking for something more to wear than to say? It’s no wonder scenes are dying, gasping out for air. Well I’ll scream back. All covered in sweat and blood. And swear, I’ll fight for something. You’re not on you’re own now. Help is on the way. We can change it somehow. Bite down ‘till we’re there. Disarray, fills the void. The promise of change and better things disappeared. Could it be we’ve all been duped again. Hard to see, how it went to hell in a hand basket so fast. USA, just stands for useless, sick and ailing, falsely free. Well I’ll scream back. All covered in sweat and blood. And swear, I’ll fight for something. You’re not on you’re own now. Help is on the way. We can change it somehow. Bite down ‘till we’re there.

Glory Daze 03:13
So long, onto the reckoning of this blood. This week was never ending. The road to the middle has beat me to submission. Far gone, the notion of a feeling that would pass for pain. It’s less concerning when you feel numb. “The funny thing,” he said, “is getting sick has saved us all. At least were here together now.” Kick back a few and pray for sleep. Better to live and die alone. Half dead, a zombie on my feet. Quoting a random song you know. Live hard and laugh that way. We don’t know when it’s our time to go. On with the show. Three cheers, and angst for the memories. I think I’ve sang this one before. All too familiar.

Last Call 02:45
“Stay alert, it’s time, were going in. Once inside, get eyes on the suspect all in black. He’s armed and dangerous.” The rookies heart is beating overtime. The door kicks in and all hell breaks loose. “It’s a raid!” Guns flash and bottles smash. Going for the takedown, fired without reason. While she’s crying crimson tears, he’s blown away. “All cars, we’ve got ourselves a little situation. Respond to Lucky’s, over.” Won’t go without a fight, just fire away. The bar fills with smells of gasoline. The secret lab behind the kitchen filled with diesel, Seems to sprung a leak, and about to blow. Every boy in blue is running now, and Lucky’s screaming. “Say hello to my little friend!” Guns flash and bottles smash. Going for the takedown, fired without reason. While she’s crying crimson tears, he’s blown away. “All cars, we’ve got ourselves a little situation. Respond to Lucky’s, over.” Won’t go without a fight, just fire away. One blast and in a flash, burning to its fate now. Happy hour’s over. Just flames and broken glass, we’ll always sing. Great lines of better times. All before it burned down, silencing the music. And there written in the ashes, “Re-opening.”
